Resolutions

Today is New Year's Day and much like the rest of the US there are certain traditions that my family and I engage in. One such tradition is to think and talk about resolutions for the New Year. Personally and practically, I am not a big fan of resolutions. I have tried the not biting my nails, more exercise, etc. I am not able to keep my resolutions for very long. I guess I am not very different than anyone else.

So, this year, here is mine...
I resolve to live each day to the fullest, where I deal with the difficult situations rather than run and hide or avoid them altogether. That in walking through those situations I will be shaped into the person that will look back on 2011 as a year where I grew in my reliance upon God. That I will walk through anything that is given to me, knowing that it will help someone else in the future.

What will you resolve to do in 2011 to make a difference in the life of someone else?

What is the Character Matter that you will work on in 2011?

When my five year old reflected back on his 2010, he mentioned things that made an impact on who he had become in the previous year that would shape who he is in the New Year. "I learned Christmas isn't all about presents."

How did you develop in 2010 that will shape how you will live in 2011?

Where and how will your Character Matter in 2011?

My wife, gave me a sticker with a quote from Tolstoy that I placed on my page for December 25th, "Character may be manifested in the great moments, but it is made in the small ones." The definition of manifested being, attested.

My Character Matter will be made in the small moments in 2011. The times when I am given the opportunity to look and deal with situations with neither fear nor favor. I don't foresee any great moments, or even bordering on brilliant moments in 2011, but if they present themselves, I want to be ready for my character to matter in my choices.
